The Medicine Buddha Thangka is one of the most popular Buddhas in the world and is revered as the source of the healing arts. It is one of the primary deities that I work with on a daily basis.
This sacred Medicine Buddha Tibetan Thangka is an original hand painted mandala from Tibetan Buddhist Monks and was created during deep meditation and prayer. It is a powerful Mandala that is already empowered with the peaceful and healing energy of the Medicine Buddha and is a beautiful representation of Tibetan Buddhism art. Also infused within the painting is a rare holy Buddha relic of an enlightened being that greatly empowers this piece and those who gaze upon it with the attributes of the Medicine Buddha. I was blessed with this holy relic while in Nepal and have used it in my personal practice for years.
Creating a connection with the Medicine Buddha is a very powerful method for healing oneself and others and for overcoming the inner sickness of attachment, hatred, and ignorance. If ignorance and hatred fester within us, sooner or later they will give rise to disease and suffering. The Medicine Buddha is revered as a great physician because of his great compassion, wisdom and skill in diagnosing and treating the root cause of all mental and physical afflictions.
The Medicine Buddha’s body of Lapis Lazuli represents his omniscient wisdom and compassion as vast as limitless space. In His right hand, the Medicine Buddha holds a branch of the king of medicines as a vow to help heal all sentient beings. In His left hand, he holds a bowl of nectar, representing the dharma, that he shares with sentient beings to free them from sickness and suffering.
The Buddhas painted in the Thangka embody the living presence of enlightened beings. By being in the presence of the painting or using the painting as a meditation tool, you will be connected to the Medicine Buddha and the Buddha’s healing powers.
The Medicine Buddha sits in the center of the Mandala and is surrounded by five deities. In the top center, the Dhyani Buddha sits in meditation. To the left of the Dhyani Buddha sits the White Tara who is known for compassion and healing. To the right of the Dhyani Buddha sits the Green Tara who is the Buddha of enlightened activity. Manjushree, the God of Divine Wisdom, sits in the bottom left corner. In the bottom right corner, Vighnantaka serves as the guardian of the gates of the Mandala.
This Medicine Buddha Thangka is one of a kind in that it has also been empowered with an extremely rare Buddha relic of an enlightened being. This Buddha relic and the technique to infuse it within a sacred Thangka is based on ancient wisdom and will empowers all who gaze upon and meditate with this painting.
